:: About Small World Net

By accessing or using the Small World Net web site or sites hosted on Small World Net (these display the Small World Net logo), you agree to the terms of the Small World Net Privacy Policy, as outlined below. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not access or use this site. Small World Net reserves the right to change its Privacy Policy from time to time at its sole discretion. Your use of this site will be subject to the most current version of the Privacy Policy at the time of such use.

:: Information Gathered

Information such as your name, email address, and other personal information are collected when you use Small World Net. Demographic and profile data is also collected at our site. Small World Net uses this data to tailor the experience on our site and to display other brands that may be relevant to you that you may want to become a member of their online community. The information that you provide is used as part of an effort to keep you informed about special offers and services from Small World Net and its brand partners. Small World Net also uses this data to learn more about the demographics of site visitors and refine its business offerings.

Small World Net will send you administrative messages, and email updates regarding your account, Brand Sites, or the Small World Net Platform. Small World Net may also send you notices of new content or brands that have been added in which you have indicated you may be interested and when you have subscribed to such notices. In some cases, Small World Net may also send you primarily promotional messages from brands you have indicated you are interested in. Through your account profile, you can choose to opt out of promotional messages, new brand and new content notices. You may opt out of receiving administrative messages by cancelling your Small World Net User account.

:: How we share your personal information

Small World Net will not sell, rent or lease to others telephone numbers or e-mail addresses. It will share the personal data, demographic data and contest entries you provide only with other Small World Net entities and/or brand partners that are using the Small World Net platform and that you have indicated you want to become a member of that brand’s online community.

:: Disclosure of Information

Small World Net does not disclose your information to any entity other than the designated client brands with whom you have agreed to participate with on the Small World Net system, unless authorized by you. This includes personal information, email addresses, information about your visits to the site(s), etc. Statistical information gathered as a whole may be disclosed (e.g. Total number of members by brand), but Small World Net will never disclose information on an individual basis except to the designated brand(s) with whom you have agreed to participate with Small World Net. Small World Net reserves the right to disclose any and all pertinent customer information to law enforcement or other government officials as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate.

:: Password Protection

Portions of our web site are password protected to help safeguard member information. A password chosen by the user provides access to the site. As members of Small World Net, users have access to their own information. Small World Net reserves the right to change passwords at any time to protect the security of the platform. We require that you keep confidential the password you select for accessing our site. If you feel that your password has been compromised or if you forget your password, email Small World Net immediately at passwordchange@SmallWorldNet.com. Your password will be removed, and a reset password link will be sent via the email provided in your profile.

You can change your login user-specific data on the site at any time. All users have access to modify/edit/cancel their profiles at any time.

:: Content

When you post content or messages of any kind in any brand site(s) on the Small World Net platform that enable direct sharing of information with other users and visitors, other users and visitors will have access to any personal data in such content. The Small World Net Platform keeps track of content that you have uploaded to a brand site on Small World Net as well as the top content accessed for each brand site. This information is displayed with your Small World user name and photo, if you uploaded one, and is available to users and visitors of the Small World Net platform. In addition, the Small World Net platform enables other users to invite you to use other brand sites on Small World Net.

Because you may voluntarily disclose any personal data in these public areas, you should be careful about the information you choose to disclose. Small World Net does not control that disclosure, and is not liable in any way for anyone's use or misuse of the information in the disclosure.

:: Security

Small World Net member accounts are secured by member created passwords. Small World Net uses reasonable measures to protect member information that is stored within our database. Small World Net uses industry standard security measures to protect the loss, misuse and alteration of the information under our control. Although we make good faith efforts to store the information collected by Small World Net and brand sites that run on the Small World Net Platform in a secure operating environment that is not available to the public, Small World Net cannot guarantee complete security. Further, while we work hard to ensure the integrity and security of our network and systems, we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third-party "hackers" from illegally obtaining Small World Net this information.

:: Updates or Removal of User Information

Users may, at any time, choose to correct or update the information they have submitted to Small World Net, by going to their account profile. Users may remove their user information from Small World Net's live database by cancelling their account. Even if you update or remove your information from our live database, however, your personal data may be retained in our backup files and archives.

:: Cookies and Passive Data Collection

Small World Net uses cookies, IP address, user agent details, and page navigation history on Small World Net to improve the content of the Small World Net platform, the quality of Small World Net servers, and to provide enhanced features to users, where available. Small World Net uses cookies to allow users to log in to Small World Net, each cookie stores a random sequence of characters or non personally identifiable data, on users' browsers and hard drives, and may use them to provide tailored products and services to those Users, as they become available.

IP Addresses also help us to diagnose problems with our server, to administer the Small World Net Platform, and to otherwise provide the Small World Net service to its users. IP addresses may be disclosed to a third party if we believe in good faith that the law or legal process requires it, or to protect the rights or property of Small World Net, its Users or the general public.

:: Small World Net Service Providers

Small World Net may need to provide your personal data to third parties to deliver specific services to you (such as hosting services or brand site(s) hosted elsewhere). These third parties are required not to disclose your personal data and not to use your personal data other than to provide the services requested by Small World Net.

:: Small World Net Affiliates

Although Small World Net currently does not have a parent company, any subsidiaries, joint ventures, or other companies under a common control (collectively, “affiliates”), it may in the future. Small World Net may share some of your personal data with these affiliates, in which case we will seek to require our affiliates to honour this privacy policy.

:: Change of Ownership

In the event of a change in ownership, or a merger with, acquisition by, or sale of assets to, another entity, we reserve the right to transfer all of Small World Net's user information, including email addresses, to a separate entity. Small World Net will notify users (via a posting on this site or email (in Small World Net's discretion) of such a transfer, and users may choose to modify their registration information at that time. This means if you are concerned about your personal data migrating to a new owner, you can deactivate your account.

Small World Net contains links to brand sites (not fully residing on the Small World Net platform) and other sites. Small World Net is not responsible for the privacy policies and/or practices on other sites not residing on the Small World Net platform. When linking to another site a user should read the privacy policy stated on that site. Our privacy policy only governs information collected on Small World Net.

:: International Users

By visiting Small World Net and Brand Sites running on the Small World Net Platform, and providing Small World Net with data, you acknowledge and agree that due to the international dimension of Small World Net we may use the data collected in the course of our relationship for the purposes identified in this Privacy Policy or in our other communications with you, including the transmission of information outside your resident jurisdiction. In addition, please understand that such data may be stored on servers located in Canada or the United States where laws protecting personal data may not be as stringent as the laws in your jurisdiction. By providing us with your data, you consent to the transfer of such data.

:: Children Under Age 13

Small World Net does not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from anyone under the age of 13 or knowingly allow such persons to register. If you are under 13, please do not attempt to register for Small World Net or send any information about yourself to us, including your name, address, telephone number, or email address. No one under age 13 may provide any personal information to or on Small World Net. In the event that we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under age 13 without verification of parental consent, we will delete that information as quickly as possible. If you believe that we might have any information from or about a child under 13, please contact us at under13@smallworldnet.com.

:: Children Between the Ages of 13 and 18

We recommend that minors over the age of 13 ask their parents for permission before sending any information about themselves to anyone over the Internet.
